If you have an interest in or collect gemstones mined in the UK, then this "Marston Marble" cabochon is for you!  I'm delighted to be able to share this amazing material that's only found in Marston Magna near Yeovil in Somerset - although it's getting much harder to find.  Why is the name in inverted commas?  It's not actually a marble, this is its marketing name, it's really a limestone that contains ammonite fossils.  Polished on both sides, both of which have a gentle curve to them.
