Opalite is an opalized glass used to imitate opal or moonstone...

When you compare it to either natural moonstone or opal it is obvious it is neither!

The story behind this name doesn’t end there though…

Tiffany stone is also sometimes referred to as Opalite.

There is a purple, lavender or green variety of natural, common opal that is sometimes called Opalite.

Should you have a Tiffany stone or the natural opal variety described here, I wouldn’t describe it as Opalite as that is usually associated with the glass stone in the photograph and would be an injustice to these natural stones!
