Is green amber real...?

Green Amber… really? 

Whilst natural green amber can be found, it is rare and expensive. One way of artificially creating green amber is by burning the back of a piece of golden amber so that when you look down into the stone, from the top, the stone appears green.

You can see from the side that this piece of amber has a black back but if it had been set in an enclosed rubover setting you would not be able to see this view. Something to look out for when shopping for your next piece of amber…
