Lapis lazuli is an opaque rock that consists of blue lazulite, white calcite and golden pyrite.

With a hardness of 5.5, good toughness and fair stability, this stone may be used for earrings, pendants and brooches but it may show signs of abrasion and wear in rings, bracelets or cufflinks and care needs to be taken when setting this stone.
