Translucent stone in varying tones of orange.

Carnelian is a polycrystalline form of quartz.  With a hardness of 6, excellent toughness and good stability, agate is suitable for use in rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets, brooches and cufflinks, although abrasion and wear may occur in rings and bracelets.

• Stability – resistance to alteration by light, heat or chemicals
• Toughness – resistance to fracture, cleavage or cracking
