Colour zoning of white to deep amethyst.

Echoes of the colour zoning in dark purple, paler amethyst tones and white.  The purple colouration of amethyst is caused by iron impurities within the quartz.

With a hardness of 7, good toughness and stability, crystalline quartz is suitable for use in rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets, brooches and cufflinks, although abrasion and wear may occur in rings and bracelets.
