Deepest, darkest grey with amazing schiller patterning – a mesmerising stone that needs to be seen on the move to be fully appreciated!

From the enstatite-ferrosilite mineral series, mineralogists no longer use the name hypersthene.  Sitting somewhere between these two minerals, enstatite containing more magnesium and ferrosilite containing more iron, its fibrous aggregates produce the stunning schiller seen in this stone.

With a hardness of 5.5-6 these are suitable for use in pendants, earrings and brooches but care should be taken in rings and bracelets and when setting the stones themselves.
