A really beautiful pair of tiger iron cabochons (fairly flat top rather than high curve).  The colours within the stone come from layers of golden tiger’s-eye, dark metallic grey hematite and rich red jasper.

Each mineral has a hardness of between 5.5 and 6.5, making these suitable for use in rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets, brooches and cufflinks, although abrasion and wear may occur in rings and bracelets.

Hardness – resistance to scratching and wear

Stability – resistance to alteration by light, heat or chemicals

Toughness – resistance to fracture, cleavage or cracking
