Lovely stone with translucent centre clearly showing the dendritic growth.

This translucent stone has a clearly defined dendrite visible – dendrites are branching, fern-like growths of iron or manganese.  Agate has a hardness of 6, excellent toughness and good stability, making it suitable for use in rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets, brooches and cufflinks, although abrasion and wear may occur in rings and bracelets.

Stability – resistance to alteration by light, heat or chemicals

Toughness – resistance to fracture, cleavage or cracking
