While the veins of green-blue chrysocolla has a hardness of 2-4 and azurite has a hardness of 3.5-4, the brown within the stone is jasper (polycrystalline quartz) which has a hardness of 6, making this stone suitable for earrings, pendants and brooches but unsuitable for rings, bracelets or cufflinks and care needs to be taken when designing for this stone and when working with it.
