Tones of green from dark through to very pale with the distinctive patterning of light and dark green tones beautifully shown here in the growth patterns of malachite.
With a hardness of 4, fair to good toughness and poor stability, malachite is best suited for use in pendants, earrings, and brooches but care should be taken in rings and bracelets and when setting the stones themselves. Abrasion and wear are likely to occur in rings and bracelets.
Hardness – resistance to scratching and wear
Stability – resistance to alteration by light, heat or chemicals
Toughness – resistance to fracture, cleavage or cracking
Please note you will receive the stone in the photograph
