Ammolite pendant

This hallmarked silver pendant comes on a 2mm thick 18” foxtail chain.  The 20.10ct piece of ammolite is set in a sterling silver closed back setting and the pendant measures approx. 45x16mm.   Click here to see this rare and beautiful gem in action!

Ammolite is the fossilized shell of an ammonite and was officially recognised as a gemstone in 1981. It is only found in Alberta, Canada and the markings within this piece remind me of a stained glass window.  As ammolite is 3.5-4 on the Mohs' scale of hardness, this piece has been protected and stabilised with resin.
