What a fun stone this is - K2 granite really is only found near the base of K2 mountain on the China/Pakistan border (K2 granite - imaginatively named I know…). While the 'ink spot' patterns may look manmade and like a Rorschach test, they are natural and have occured when blue azurite formed in the gaps of the granite’s structure making each one unique.
This hallmarked silver ring is set with a 10.80ct K2 granite cabochon. The top of the ring measures approx. 23x16mm. The ring is a UK size O and the band is approx. 4mm wide.
K2 granite (sometimes incorrectly called K2 Jasper) is a white granite consisting of quartz, white feldspars, and biotite but what makes it so unusual are the blue ‘ink’ spots within it. These are blue azurite that has formed naturally in the gaps of the granite’s structure, after the granite itself had solidified.
