Silver sapphire ring oval

This hallmarked silver ring is set with a 17.90ct silver sapphire that is pretty moody!  The top of the ring measures approx. 26x19mm.  The ring is a UK size R1/2 and the band is approx. 6mm wide.   

Sapphire is a variety of corundum which grows as six-sided crystals – evidence of which may be seen by the dark growth marks within the stones.  Found in Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Kenya, Tanzania, Thailand and Montana, USA amongst other places.
