Amethyst pendant

This hallmarked silver pendant comes on an 18” foxtail chain.  The 46.40ct cabochon of amethyst is set in a sterling silver closed back setting and the pendant measures approx. 44x24mm.   

Rock crystal is the pure, colourless variety of quartz while amethyst is the purple variety whose colour is caused by the presence of iron.  This stone has fantastic colour zoning with clear delineation between the palest, amethyst tinted transparent area and the darker traditional amethyst coloured part.
