Soft, olive green with a hint of blue along one side.

Labradorite is a member of the feldspar family and owes its amazing variety of colours to light being reflected and refracted by internal fractures in the stone.  This type of iridescence is called labradorescence!

With a hardness of 6, poor toughness, good cleavage and good stability, it is better suited for use in pendants, earrings and brooches but care should be taken in rings and bracelets and when setting the stones themselves.  Abrasion and wear may occur in rings and bracelets

• Toughness – resistance to fracture, cleavage or cracking
