Pietersite is the marketing name for an aggregate consisting of tiger’s-eye and hawk’s-eye with the same chatoyancy seen within these stones.  A variety of polycrystalline quartz, it has a hardness of 6, excellent toughness and good stability, making it suitable for use in rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets, brooches and cufflinks, although abrasion and wear may occur in rings and bracelets.
