This one is a real stunner and I’m struggling to part with it if I’m honest! It’s a statement stone with the characteristic colour zoning within the centre highlighted by the deep amethyst colour (associated with Brazil twinning for anyone interested…). Then there are the fibrous inclusions that radiate out from there and gently catch the light as the stone moves… The purple colouration of amethyst is caused by iron impurities within the quartz.
With a hardness of 7, good toughness and stability, crystalline quartz is suitable for use in rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets, brooches and cufflinks, although abrasion and wear may occur in rings and bracelets.
Hardness – resistance to scratching and wear
Stability – resistance to alteration by light, heat or chemicals
Toughness – resistance to fracture, cleavage or cracking
Please note you will receive the stone in the photograph
