This translucent stone has a clearly defined brown dendrite visible – dendrites are branching, fern-like growths of iron or manganese. Agate is a polycrystalline form of quartz. With a hardness of 6, excellent toughness and good stability, agate is suitable for use in rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets, brooches and cufflinks, although abrasion and wear may occur in rings and bracelets.
