With a hardness of 3.5-4, fair toughness and poor stability, it is important to consider your design when using pearls in your jewellery. These are suitable for use in earrings and pendants but care should be taken not to damage the pearl while making the piece.
Advice when wearing pearls – make them the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off – this means they won’t be damaged by perfume, hairspray, lotions, etc. Pearl jewellery should be carefully stored away from other jewellery to protect the pearls from damage.
Hardness – resistance to scratching and wear
Stability – resistance to alteration by light, heat or chemicals
Toughness – resistance to fracture, cleavage or cracking
Please note you will receive the pearls in the photograph
