Did you know amber is fossilised tree resin…

The beautiful golden tones of this type of amber are well known but the stone on the right is plastic with darker colouring swirled through it to imitate amber. The stone on the left is natural amber. It may have been heat treated to improve clarity which may have caused the wonderfully named sun spangles or circular stress fractures within the stone.
